We dare you!

Have you ever gone out and had a meal and thought either that you could do better or that you would love to duplicate it at home?  What’s stopping you from trying?  Chefs around the world create all the time.  They create meals through trial end error, they create through feedback and they create by just throwing things together that could possibly compliment each other.

This week, next week or even once this year, we dare you to try and make something new in your kitchen that doesn’t follow a recipe.  Something that you try to make out of pure creativity!  Whether you try something from scratch or something that you’d like to improve, you’ll love the process and hopefully the result.

Get out of your comfort zone and go to a smaller specialty store like Greco’s http://www.freewebs.com/grecos/ or to a market like T&T http://www.tnt-supermarket.com/en/ and look at the fish, different ingredients or produce sections and buy something that you’ve never had before.

Dare to be different, if it doesn’t work out, it’s ok, just tweak it a little next time and soon you’ll have a dish that you’ll be proud of.

My point is that if we don’t try and create, we put all of our faith into our local restaurants and believe that what they offer is the absolute best.  If we challenge ourselves we also challenge the restaurateurs in our neighbourhood.  We also start gaining confidence that we are good in our own kitchens and that we can indeed cook a simple meal.
